Dush Legislation Designating Frank Enzer Weiss Marine Corps Bridge Earns Unanimous House Approval
HARRISBURG – Rep. Cris Dush (R-Jefferson/Indiana) today announced that House Bill 1516, which would designate the newly constructed bridge on State Route 119 covering Pine Run Creek as the PFC Frank Enzer Weiss United States Marine Corps Bridge, has passed the House unanimously.

Private First Class Frank Enzer Weiss, a native of Tanoma, Indiana County, served as a rifleman in the United States Marine Corps G Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Amphibious Force. At just 19 years of age, he was killed in action on March 18, 1968, by hostile enemy fire in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

Weiss was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.

“May we never forget this courageous young man who faithfully fulfilled his duties and willingly laid down his life upon the altar of freedom,” said Dush. “It is my hope that the designation of this prominent bridge in our community will be a daily reminder for many to be grateful, not only for Frank’s selfless sacrifice, but for the bravery of all America’s fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price in defense our nation during the Vietnam War.”

House Bill 1516 now goes to the state Senate for its consideration. If enacted, signs noting the designation will be placed on both sides of the bridge.
