Reed, Pyle, Dush and White to Co-Host Job Fair at New Location in Indiana on May 4
4/3/2017
INDIANA – As part of their ongoing efforts to assist area workers and employers, Reps. Dave Reed (R-Indiana), Jeff Pyle (R-Armstrong/Butler/Indiana), Cris Dush (Jefferson/Indiana) and Sen. Don White (R-41) are co-hosting a job fair in Indiana on Thursday, May 4.

The free event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a new location from previous years – the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex (KCAC), 711 Pratt Drive on the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) campus.

“Although we appreciated our partnership with the S&T Bank Arena, where other job fairs have been held, we are excited by the opportunity to expand the event to better reach the IUP community and connect young, qualified graduates with professional positions, and keep them living and working here in Pennsylvania,” said Reed.

“This job fair is intended to conveniently bring employers and prospective employees together in one location,” said White. “This is a prime opportunity for local companies to meet with the motivated individuals who can round out their workforce. It is also an opportunity for people to meet with several different companies and find a job that best fits their skills and interests.”

Job fair organizers are partnering with the IUP Career and Professional Development Center to improve the event.

“We’re very pleased to host this event on campus and to offer the excellent resources of our Career and Professional Development Center to the job fair organizers,” IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll said. “Not only is this an opportunity for our students, our involvement reflects our ongoing commitment to serving as an economic driver for the region.”

Other sponsors include PA CareerLink of Indiana County, the Indiana County Commissioners and the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce.

“We are excited and thankful for the collaboration between the co-sponsors, KCAC staff, the IUP Career and Professional Development Center, and Renda Broadcasting to ensure another successful job fair event,” added Kevin Lazor, PA CareerLink of Indiana County administrator.

“We are also hopeful that the change in venue will afford graduating seniors, as well as local jobseekers, the opportunity to attend, find a career and keep their knowledge, skills and abilities in the region.”

Anyone with questions about the event should contact Reed’s district office in Indiana at (724) 465-0220.
